✨ Indie author spotlight! ✨

Today, I went to the @gcwriters and met @damianhussey . I just loved his work, I had to get the first volume of his graphic novel @gunpowder.graphic.novel and I got it signed! I realised I never thought of indie graphic novels, but we all have to start somewhere and now I want more! Supporting indie’s is such a big part of the book industry and part of my book journey. If you like the sound of mad max with demons vibes head over and give them a follow.

I really wanted to love this book!

Unfortunately, it was a three stars for me. But it was a five star experience with @pia.reads.magic , as we buddy read together 😍. I was so fortunate to receive this gorgeous book as a Christmas gift from Pia , and while I didn’t love parts. It will be forever displayed in my library, for its gorgeous cover and beautiful sprayed edges.

Summary -this story follows a street thief named Kierse who decides to steal from a monster and is now trapped within his library. He has every right to kill her, as she has broken the treaty between humans and monsters. Instead, Graves hires her for a job, one that pays well and could set her and her friends free. Not only that, but she can finally find out who she really is, and who could refuse such an offer? However, once she steps into Graves’ world, she is in more danger than she can imagine, with threats more ancient than legends and things worse than monsters. Will this job be her undoing?

Ok so this post is a little different , and to be honest I wasn’t going to post it, but I’m doing it anyway.

I have been learning Japanese for a while now. And so, I thought I would post what I use for self studying.

I do apologise, some of the things I said were incorrect. The kanji book is just vol 1, but Vol 1 and Vol 2 are for N5 and N4. The other books are for higher levels. The flashcards are in Japanese with English, and romaji ( some have kanji). Yes they are for kids but if you struggle like me, these help with remembering words.

I use these particular books, even though I have so many more. Because these books are what I learnt with in Kyoto and they have been the most helpful ones to work with.

I decided to make myself accountable and push myself everyday to learn Japanese. So, I can hopefully reach my goal of N3 level. I find language learning so hard and frustrating but I don’t want to give up. I’m determined to sit my N5 test maybe next year if I don’t chicken out beforehand 😂

I want to revisit this beautiful book, I was privileged enough to receive an arc read for. I read this last year and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I want to support as many indie authors as I can, but I feel like once I do my review it gets lost with all the other posts. So here is another mini review post of - Wild Howls in the Evergreen Wolves of Legend Forgotten by Roxana Raluca Nedelcu.

So, what’s it about? Well, the story centers around Daciana, a forty-year-old woman from Canada with Romanian roots. Following a heartbreaking experience with her true love, she embarks on a directionless new chapter, merely surviving out of habit. However, her life takes a turn when her job brings her to Romania, alongside a mysterious gift from her long-departed grandmother. As she reconnects with her Romanian roots, Daciana discovers mythical creatures from the realm of fantasy, some kind-hearted, while others are not so friendly, and ultimately finds her life’s purpose. Throughout her journey in this unfamiliar land, she is accompanied by her cat, Chocolate, her best friend Annaisha, and Decebal, providing her with the support she needs.

I truly did love reading this one, it was a different kind of fantasy and my favourite part.. learning about Romania and seeing into another culture. If you would like to support another indie author, I highly recommend @daciana.lupu

This is an arc read, I read back in September. I was lucky enough to meet @elisehelliwellauthor at her book launch in November. She was the kindest person 💕 and it was such a fun event. The book is beautiful both the story and physical pages 😍 it’s edges are 🔥

Who else just stares at their shelves in pure joy?

I don’t have much space, as I live in a granny flat. But my husband let me take over the tiny space, called our live and dinning area.

I am so happy with how my shelves are coming along….i do have stacks of books in the bedroom waiting for my third shelf if I can fit it somewhere 😂 but for now I’m so happy with these pretty shelves 💕💕💕

I don’t have much space, as I live in a granny flat. But my husband let me take over the tiny space, called our live and dinning area.

I am so happy with how my shelves are coming along….i do have stacks of books in the bedroom waiting for my third shelf if I can fit it somewhere 😂 but for now I’m so happy with these pretty shelves 💕💕💕

Why do I own multiple copies of Water moon? 🌙✨

Because! This book has my heart and soul.

The beautiful elements wrapped between the pages. The vivid and rich colours I see when reading, and the absolute depth of world building. It has me feeling totally and utterly immersed and emotional. I think these type of books are my favourite love stories, because it’s so much more than just physical or even emotional love. There is something magical and beautiful, and has you feeling empty and full all at once. I will forever and ever recommend this book over and over again. If you haven’t read this yet. Please, please, please do so.

I went into bookface just to browse as, I have put a book buying ban on myself 😅 but I found this book, and it actually is so cool! So my husband got it for me 😂 this is a horror novel by Grady Hendrix. However, it’s designed like an ikea catalog and I instantly knew I needed to read this!! I’m already hooked reading the first few pages while waiting for an appointment. To say this has gotten me out of the reading slump is an understatement. I cannot wait to review this!
